Password Generator
Create a random password with the length and character types you choose. It uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, always includes at least one character of each type you select, and can leave out look-alike characters such as O and 0. Passwords are made on this page and are not sent or saved.

Generate a random password
Up to 20 at once.
How to use it
Set the length
Use the slider or type an exact length from 4 to 128. Longer is stronger; 16 or more is a sensible choice for most accounts.
Choose the characters
Tick lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols. You can edit the list of symbols if a website rejects certain ones, and avoid look-alike characters if you will type the password by hand.
Generate
Select Generate password. You can create up to 20 at once and generate again as often as you like.
Copy it into your password manager
Use Copy, then paste the password straight into the account's password field and save it in your password manager. Hide hides it on screen if someone is looking.
Example: a password for a site that rejects some symbols
A site accepts letters, numbers and only ! @ # $ in passwords. Set the length to 20, keep all four types ticked, and replace the symbols list with !@#$. Every password generated will draw its symbols only from those four characters and still contain at least one of them.
Limits and limitations
- The strength shown is an estimate for a randomly generated password of that length and character set (length multiplied by the log base 2 of the number of possible characters). The labels are rough guides, not guarantees.
- The tool cannot check a password against breach lists, and it cannot know how a website stores or limits passwords. Some sites cap the length or reject certain characters.
- The randomness comes from your browser and operating system. If this browser does not provide a secure random generator, the tool refuses to make a password rather than use a weaker source.
- Anyone who can see your screen or clipboard can see the password. Clear the clipboard after pasting if your device keeps a clipboard history.
- A random password is hard to remember. Store it in a password manager rather than reusing a simpler one.
Frequently asked questions
Is this password generator safe to use?
The passwords are created in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's secure random source, and are not sent anywhere or stored by this site. As with any tool, you are trusting the device you are using, so avoid generating passwords on a computer you do not trust.
How long should my password be?
For accounts protected only by a password, 16 characters or more of random letters, numbers and symbols is a strong choice. Where you need to type the password often, a longer password with only letters and numbers can be easier to manage and is still strong.
Why does every password contain each type I picked?
Many sites require at least one of each type. The generator places one character from each selected type and fills the rest from the whole set, then shuffles the order.
Are the passwords stored or logged?
No. They exist only on the page. They disappear when you change a setting, generate again or leave the page. This site can load advertising or analytics scripts, but only after you accept them in the cookie notice. They are separate from the tools, which never pass the files or text you work with to them.
