Example: splitting a report into chapters
For a 30-page report, choose “One file for each range” and type 1-10, 11-20, 21-30. You get three PDFs, one for each chapter.
How to write the pages

|---|---|
| 3 | Page 3 only |
| 2-4 | Pages 2, 3 and 4 |
| 1-3, 7 | Pages 1, 2, 3 and 7 |
| 8- | Page 8 to the last page |
| -3 | Pages 1 to 3 |
| 5, 1 | Page 5 then page 1, in that order (one file mode) |
Limits and limitations
- The file can be up to 100 MB, and one run makes at most 100 files. Very large files can fail if the browser runs out of memory.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password in the program that made the file first.
- In “One file for each range” mode a page cannot be listed twice, and in “Pull out pages” mode the pages follow the order you type.
- Bookmarks, form fields and links that point to pages you did not keep are not carried across.
- Each file is downloaded separately. There is no zip download.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your file is processed by JavaScript running in your browser and is not sent to a server. The page itself still loads from a web server like any website. This site can load advertising or analytics scripts, but only after you accept them in the cookie notice. They are separate from the tools, which never pass the files or text you work with to them.
What is the difference between the two modes?
“Pull out pages into one file” gathers everything you list into a single new PDF. “One file for each range” makes a separate PDF for every comma-separated part.
Why do my page numbers not match the printed ones?
The tool counts physical pages from the start of the file. A cover or front matter can make the printed number differ from the page position.
Can I reorder pages with this?
In one-file mode the pages come out in the order you type them, so 3, 1, 2 puts page 3 first. It is not a full page organiser.
