Case Converter

Change the capitalisation of any text in one click: upper and lower case, title and sentence case, or the naming styles programmers use such as camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case. The result updates as you choose, and you can copy it or use it as the input for another conversion.

Change the case of your text

Convert to

Example: The Lord of the Rings

How to use it

  1. Add your text

Type or paste into the first box.

  2. Pick a case

Choose from twelve styles. An example under the choices shows what the selected style does.

  3. Copy or download the result

The converted text appears below. Copy it, or download it as a text file.

  4. Chain conversions

Use “Use result as input” to convert the result again, for example to turn a title into a slug.

Example: turning a list of headings into variable names

Paste one heading per line, such as “User account settings”, and choose snake_case. Each line becomes its own name (user_account_settings), so a whole list converts in one go. Choose camelCase, PascalCase, kebab-case or CONSTANT_CASE for other styles.

Limits and limitations

  • Title case and Capitalize Each Word turn the rest of each word to lower case, so acronyms such as NASA become “Nasa” and names such as McDonald become “Mcdonald”. Fix those by hand.
  • Title case follows a common English style with a fixed list of small words. Style guides differ, so check yours for formal publications.
  • Sentence case capitalises after full stops, question marks, exclamation marks and line breaks. It does not know about abbreviations or proper nouns, and it does not fix a lone “i”.
  • Case rules follow the standard Unicode mappings, not any particular language. Language-specific cases, such as the Turkish dotted and dotless i, are not handled.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle accented and non-English letters?

Yes for scripts that have upper and lower case, such as Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. Scripts without case, such as Chinese or Arabic, are left unchanged.

What happens to numbers and punctuation?

They are kept as they are in the case styles that change letters only. In the programming styles (camelCase, snake_case and so on), punctuation is treated as a word separator and removed.

Can I convert many lines at once?

Yes. The programming styles convert each line separately, so a list of phrases becomes a list of names. The other styles work across the whole text.

No. Your text is processed by JavaScript running in your browser and is not sent to a server. The page itself still loads from a web server like any website.
